Materials Needed:
- As many Cups as you want (5 was a good number) *If using glass please ask family which ones you can use!!
- Water
- 2 wooden Pencils
Directions:
- Fill each glass with a different amount of water, and set atop a sturdy waterproof surface- kitchen counter or table
- Strike each top outer rim of the glass with the wooden pencils to test out how HIGH or LOW the Pitch (frequency of the sound) is.
- Ta-da! You’ve created your own small xylophone – like percussion instrument!!
- Have fun! You can customize your with different types of cups- plastic/glass/melamine. Experiment and play with the amount of water, even empty cups (or bowls)! How does the size change the sound?! You could maybe even add a drop of food coloring to the water to really make it look unique!
